2016 iFresh China fruit and vegetable industry congress held in Shanghai

2016 iFresh China Fruit & Vegetable industry Congress was successfully held in Shanghai Everbright Convention & Exhibition Hotel between May 15th and May 17th.  With the assigned theme of Co-win, this summit invited both domestic and international speakers (including fruit growers, exporters, importers and distributors, etc.) to talk about domestic fruit industry trends and relevant policy interpretations.

During one of the morning sessions, the theme of the meeting focused primarily domestic fruit industry policies and trends. A key note speech was given by the Executive Vice President and Secretary General from China Fruit Marketing Association industry, followed by a speech on building a fruit brand by Ms Liu, who has very rich experiences in export and import fruit inspections and quarantine. 

The chairman from Zhejiang Tianzi Co. Ltd also explained the business model of their oranges: from the field to the table. Finally, Mr. Zhang Chunhua, the president of the Shanghai Fruit Business Association, and the general manager of Shanghai Agricultural Products Wholesale Market Management Co., Ltd., called on the fruit & vegetable industry to set up strict product standards to improve the overall quality of domestic fresh produce.

Along with the themes on domestic fruits, the afternoon session focused mainly on export and import sector. Mr. Chen Jianhua, the director from Jiawo Wing Mau introduced their export and import situation & the fruit industry planning. He also expressed the company's vision on a service platform building for the connections of fruit growers and consumers. 

This was followed by Italian kiwi company Sweetki, who introduced their kiwi growth and sales overviews, and their plans to co- develop Chinese market with Chinese fruit importers.  Meanwhile, Peru Counsellor Mr. Vladimir Kocerha introduced which Peruvian fruits can now be exported to China, such as blueberries, avocado, mango and pomegranate. The first container of Peruvian avocados have already arrived in Shanghai and will be followed by 4 other containers before the end of May. With the advantage of zero tariffs, Peruvian exporters expect that more Peruvian quality agricultural products can be sold in China. 

In conclusion, a Turkish company introduced their cherry products. This year an experimental year for Turkish cherry export and if all goes well, a large number of Turkish cherries are likely to be exported to China.
